Madonna Books being released to celebrate her upcoming 60th Birthday
I have come across a few books, quite by chance, that are being released to celebrate her upcoming 60th birthday this year (16th August 2018).
Madonna: An Intimate Biography of an Icon at Sixty
Recently I purchased Madonna: An Intimate Biography of an Icon at Sixty. This seems to be an extension of Taraborrelli’s previous biography Madonna: An Intimate Biography, although Randy says in the introduction that it isn’t. I have compared both versions and I find that some bits have been cut out for the new version, but not a lot of difference apart from that.
Madonna: Like an Icon
There is also a previous version. The new one will be released this month (26th july) and it’s available for pre-order. I ordered a couple of months ago and can’t wait for it to arrive. Madonna, Like an Icon is written by Lucy O’Brien.
Madonna: Album by Album
This book is also yet to be released. In Amazon the release date is October 4th… It seems a quite interesting book on Madonna. This is part of the description of the book: Published for her 60th birthday, and featuring a wealth of rare and iconic photographs, Madonna: Album by Album is a unique and long-overdue exploration of the extraordinary output of this legendary artist… There are some pictures of the interior. It seems to be a good quality book. It’s in my basket too!
Bitch, she’s Madonna
Sadly, Bitch, she’s Madonna is a book that has just been released only in Spanish. But it sounds amazing, since it must be in the line of one of my favourite books on Madonna: Madonna as a Postmodern Myth.
The book has been writen by musicologists, university professors and sexologist and they explore the reasons why Madonna has stayed on the top for so long. If you can read Spanish, you must read these two reviews by very reputable media, El diario.es and La Vanguardia (and of couse, get the book!). I wish they would let me translate it.
If you know of any other books about Madonna that are being released soon either in English or Spanish, please do let us know via the commentaries! Thanks!
